Samuel Avila
Sam served in the US Army from September 17, 1969 to September 10, 1971 Attained the rank of Sergeant E-5 while doing duting in the city of Da Nang, South Vietnam. Served in the 270th Signal Company, 37th Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade
Sam was in charge of a shift doing tactical operations and administrative functions for the Army and sometimes Navy and Marines. Held a Top Secret/Crypto security clearance while stationed in the 2nd Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas as well as my service in Vietnam. Received a Honorable Discharge. Sam is also a Lifetime Member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Member of American Legion Post 230, Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1199 (posted 04/06/11)

Michael Lynch, MSGT(Ret)
Michael attained the rank of Master Sergeant (E-7). While in Vietnam I served in 555 CES, Rapid Engineer Deployment Heavy Operation Repair Squadron Engineer, (RED HORSE), from Jan. 69 to Dec. 69, when the unit deactivated.
Michael was in an engineering capacity for 16 years service and the remainder as a Training Manager. I'm also life member of VFW Post 7776 Sausalito, Ca. Stateside assignments by state included Washington, Michigan, Oregon, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and California. Michael was stationed overseas in Korea, Vietnam, and Spain. (posted 04/06/11)
Stephen Telesmanic
Stephen served in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years, 10 months, 18 days, with the rank of Sergeant(E-4) and performed the duties of a Personnal Specialist/Technician, (posted 04/06/11)
Mariano Aurelio Jr.
I served in the US Army Nov 1965-1967 (reported for duty on Thanksgiving Day 1965). Earned the rank of SP-4, MOS: 45H20 ENTAC MISSILE REPAIRMEN. Processed at the Oakland CA. Military Induction Center; Boot Camp: Fort Ord, Ca.; AIT: Aberdeen, MD; Stationed: Fort Hood, TX, 2ND Armored Division 124TH Maintenance Battalion "Hell On Wheels".
At that same time my brother joined the Marines and was assinged to Viet Nam with his Battalion. (posted 04/07/11)
John Rodriguez
John served in the US Army from Oct. 1966 to Oct. 1969. John was ranked Sergeant E-5 Status. Served in the 7th battalion 15th Artillery while in Vietnam. John was in the Motor Pool. He was a fighting troop first and then a mechanic second. Because they had follow and were attached to the 1st Carvery Unit while serving in Vietnam.
He was stationed in Fort Erwin in Barstow, CA., in the C Battery 5th Battalion 22nd Artillery. From there he went to Vietnam in 1967 the trip over took 18 days to get to Vietnam by Sea. Served from Oct. 1967 to Oct. 1968. John received a Honorable Discharge and also received a purple heart for saving two of his co-partners in the service. John returned to the states and finished his time at Fort Hood, Texas, for the last 10 months. Where he trained the National Guards how to become mechanics. John is currently a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. (posted 04/18/11)
Herbert Williams
After basic traning at Lackland AFB,Texas,I was station across the pond AKA "The Pacific Rim" at Tachikawa AFB,Japan and Andersen AFB Guam from 1960- 1962.On my return to the World ( USA )...I was sent to Sheppard AFB Texas to a Technical school. I was then station at McClellan AFB, (Sacramento) from 1963- 1965 where I was Honorable Discharge as an Senior Airman ( E-4 )...My M.O. ( Military Occupation ) was in communication. Obtained the Rank of Postal Clerk 2nd Class (E-5). Worked as: Boiler Technician, Boatswain's Mate, Combat Cargo Technician, Postal Clerk. Places I visited: San Diego, Hawaii, Philippines, Okinawa, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Vietnam, Pago Pago, (American Samoa). Passed the International Date Line & Survived the famous "King Neptune" Ritual
Most Usual event at sea: "Swim Call", Ship's Claim to Fame: "Recovered the Apollo 13 Space Craft on April 17th 1970".
If I had to do it again I would gladly join the USN and serve my country with "PRIDE & HONOR" (posted 05/18/11)

Boot Camp - Fort Ord August to Nov 1960, Armour training Fort Hood Nov-Jan 1961, Feb 1961-August 1963 12th Cavalry 3rd Recon, 3rd Amd Div, Budingen, Germany. In Germany, during the building of the Wall, The Missiles of October, and, during his tour, met President Kennedy. [posted 08/02/11]
